Hall fulfills a childhood dream of using a fire hose at the Chugiak Fire Department in Chugiak, AK after documenting a University of Alaska Anchorage student who works there.

 

About

Philip Hall is an award-winning photographer living and working in Savannah, Georgia. Hall graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2005 with a degree in Political Science. He completed a certificate in Photojournalism and Documentary Photography at the International Center of Photography in New York, NY in 2006.

Hall began his career as a professional photographer in New York, where he freelanced for photo agencies such as World Picture Network and Sipa Press. He covered a range of subjects, from high-profile political events such as Barack Obama’s presidential campaign announcement and Hilary Clinton’s Senatorial Election Celebration, to cultural institutions like the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.  

Hall photographed the US Open Tennis Tournament for the usopen.org, the official website, for eight years, eventually serving as head photographer for the tournament. He also documented New York City high school sports for the New York Post. 

In 2012, Hall relocated to McComb, Mississippi for a position as the staff photographer for the Enterprise Journal, where he won 25 awards during his 18 month tenure. 

Hall lived in Anchorage, Alaska from 2013 to 2017, where he worked full-time as the staff photographer for the University of Alaska Anchorage and freelanced for the Anchorage Dispatch News. During his time in the north, Hall covered everything from ice climbing to dog-sled racing to Native Alaskan ceremonies to UAA’s commencement, against one of the most breathtaking natural landscapes on Earth. 

Now located in Savannah, Georgia, Hall continues to capture both newsworthy and everyday moments in his sharp, photojournalistic style. His work has appeared in publications such as The New York Times, The New York Post, Time, Newsweek, The Financial Times, USA Today, and The Christian Science Monitor.
